Matt. 24:9 “Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.”
Day after day, night after night, the news media question, denounce, or just plain ignore the good news. They want higher taxes to fund massive new federal spending for more liberal experiments. They want America – and the world – to see our military as corrupt and barbaric – and failing. And they’ll denounce anyone or anything that stands in the way of that message.
Brent Bozell (founder and president of the Media Research Center,) surveyed 18,000 nightly news shows broadcast by ABC, CBS, NBC, the Cable News Networks and the Public Broadcasting Service, and found only 212 stories that focused on religion. That amounts to 1 percent of coverage although 52 percent of Americans say they attend church and more than 90 percent say that they pray regularly.
The ACLU fights for the free speech and expression “rights” of Pornographers, Witches, Abortionists, Homosexuals, Convicted Criminals, Child Molesters, Occultists, Communists, Lesbians, Nazis, Illegal Aliens, Aids Patients, and Satanists. They have resolutely attempted to deny those same privileges to Christians.
The ACLU has sought to halt the singing of Christmas carols like “Silent Night” and “Away in a Manger” in public facilities; deny the tax-exempt status of all churches – yet maintaining it for themselves as well as for various occult groups; disallow prayer – not just in the public school classrooms, but in locker rooms, sports arenas, graduation exercises, and legislative assemblies; terminate all military and prison chaplains; deny Christian school children access to publicly funded services; eliminate nativity scenes, crosses, and other Christian symbols from public property; repeal all blue law statutes; prohibit voluntary Bible reading in public schools – even during free time or after classes; remove the words “In God We Trust” from our currency; deny accreditation to science departments at Bible-believing Christian Universities; prevent the posting of the Ten Commandments in classrooms and government property; terminate all voucher programs and tuition tax credits; prohibit census questions about religious affiliation; and purge the words “Under God” from the Pledge of Allegiance.
WorldNetDaily reported that a Christian employee of Hewlet Packard was fired for posting Bible verses condemning homosexual behavior on his desk in response to posters displayed during a company campaign to promote a diverse work force.
CNN founder Ted Turner asked employees who had ashes on their foreheads on Ash Wednesday if they were “a bunch of Jesus freaks?”
A teacher confiscated book covers that contained the Ten Commandments and threw them in the trash saying the Commandments were “hate speech” that might offend other students.
Samuel B. Kent of the Southern District of Texas decreed that any student uttering the word “Jesus” would be arrested and tossed in jail for six months.
Well known, Alabama judge, Roy Moore was roundly denounced by the big media for erecting and refusing to remove Ten Commandments stone tablets from his courthouse. The media hated him so much, that they bashed him out of office.
There were two mayors, one in San Francisco and one in New Paltz, New York. The media described the San Francisco mayor has young, handsome and Catholic. Everything they wrote about him was in the positive. It was the same with the mayor of New Paltz, New York. Both mayors were breaking state law by performing same-sex marriages.
Christians are often subjected to scorn and ridicule and denied their religious freedoms. They are often are called “Bible-thumping idiots.”
In Dec 2002 – MSNBC talk-show host Phil Donahue asked Dr. Jerry Falwell: “Do You Have to Be a Christian to Get into Heaven?” Dr. Falwell quoted John 14:6. Many in the audience applauded the Rev. Falwell’s statement. Donahue expressed disdain for their reaction. They were characterized as bigoted, ignorant, hateful and unenlightened.
Ever heard of Rosie O’Donnel & Elizabeth Hasselbeck? Rosie’s statement 9/12/06 “radical Christianity is just as threatening as radical Islam in a country like America.” One British writer saw them as overbearing lesbians and fundamentalist left-wing bubbleheads furiously howling at each other.
68% of Americans say the media have damaged moral values in America, according to a report released by the Culture and Media Institute.
1 Cor. 1:18 “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.”
It is a fact that the gospel alone saves those who believe it. Nothing else will save. Therefore we must preach the gospel. In 1 Cor. 9:16, Paul says; “Woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel.”
What is it to preach the Gospel? To exalt Jesus Christ. To preach Christ in His fullness; crucified, buried, and resurrected. To Preach Christ means to speak of His attributes, His relation to men, His life as the pattern to live by, His blood atonement as Christian doctrine, His resurrection as the source of Christian assurance, His coming again as the fountain of hope and joy.
In Acts 3:19, Peter said; “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.”
Most Christians are aware of the media’s war to silence Christians. They want to deny our Christian roots, and attempt to convince people that Christians violate the 1st Amendment which just the opposite to what is actually true.
The media also attempts to intimidate Christians by calling us names like “radical right,” “far right,” “extreme right” and “Christian right”. They work hard to marginalize and demoralize those with traditional views. Believers are often called judgmental, arrogant, narrow-minded, ignorant, old-Fashioned, chained to darkness.
Proverbs 14:12; “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”
An influential organization with ties to the White House came under fire recently for attacking Christian news outlets. In April of this year, CBN News obtained a document showing that the very foundation of the group known as Media Matters for America is built on anti-Christian bias. Faith Groups are in their Crosshairs. Media Matters is a non-profit liberal watchdog group that has the ear of not only the mainstream media, but also the Obama administration.
Vince Coglianese, a reporter with The Dailer Caller, has investigated the Media Matters’ attacks on Christian organizations.
“Media Matters, in its application to the IRS – outright, in the very first paragraph – declares it’s going to be an anti-Christian organization,” he said. “Interestingly, though, in their public mission statement Media Matters makes no mention of the fact that it intends to target the Christian ideology,” Coglianese noted.
David Brog, executive director of Christians United for Israel, believes that Media Matters’ targeting of Christians is connected to its anti-Israel views. “They want to take on what they see as a Christian-influenced media and Christian-influenced policy, and no better place to start than with the issue of Israel and with attacking U.S. support of Israel,” Brog told CBN News.
Until recently, the man at the center of Media Matters’ anti-Israel campaigns was M. J. Rosenberg.
Rosenberg served as the group’s senior foreign policy fellow before stepping aside amid controversy over his anti-Israel writings, including heated criticism from well-known Democrats like attorney Alan Dershowitz.
Rosenberg routinely uses the label, “Israel Firsters,” implying that American supporters put the interests of Israel above the United States. It’s a charge commonly made by Neo-Nazis and anti-Semitic groups.
“We don’t see any condemnation of his hate language coming from Media Matters, and we’ve yet to notice any shift in editorial policies,” Brog said. “For all we know, they’ve said goodbye to the man but not the message.” “I call upon all my friends on the left who love Israel, who hate anti-Semitism, to speak up,” he admonished. “Your silence is deafening. You’re letting your compatriots get away with the vilest of accusations.” Meanwhile, Media Matters’ new Middle East expert, Walid Zafar, appears to be following in Rosenberg’s footsteps. He recently blasted DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz for pulling out of a fundraiser hosted by an American Muslim whose name is on the federal terrorist watch list.
Writing in the February 12 issue of Newsweek, author Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s argument is just as blunt. Enough with all this talk “about Muslims as victims of abuse,” because really it’s the other way around:
A wholly different kind of war is underway – an unrecognized battle costing thousands of lives. Christians are being killed in the Islamic world because of their religion. It is a rising genocide that ought to provoke global alarm.
To suggest that a genocide is underway is, of course, a serious charge. And Hirsi Ali alleges that it is widespread:
In recent years, the violent oppression of Christian minorities has become the norm in Muslim-majority nations stretching from West Africa and the Middle East to South Asia and Oceania.
To make matters worse the media have been cowed into silence, due to “the influence of lobbying groups such as the Organization of Islamic Cooperation – a kind of United Nations of Islam centered in Saudi Arabia – and the Council on American – Islamic Relations.” She writes:
Over the past decade, these and similar groups have been remarkably successful in persuading leading public figures and journalists in the West to think of each and every example of perceived anti-Muslim discrimination as an expression of a systematic and sinister derangement called “Islamophobia” – a term that is meant to elicit the same moral disapproval as xenophobia or homophobia.
So there is a genocide underway, and there are specific groups obscuring this fact and steering media away from covering this horror – in effect making them complicit in the genocide.
This is a remarkably serious charge. It is rather shocking to see it printed in a national magazine with so little evidence.
Ali’s piece was accompanied by a large graphic labeled “Terrorist Attacks on Christians in Africa, the Middle East and Asia.” According to the graph, there were 45 such attacks in 2010. Violence of this sort is tragic; the anecdotes Hirsi Ali cites from Nigeria sound horrific.
Hirsi Ali pleads with readers that we must “please get our priorities straight…. Instead of falling for overblown tales of Western Islamophobia, let us take a real stand against the Christophobia infecting the Muslim world.”
Like-minded Christians should be standing firm together in our struggles while supporting and loving one another (John 15:17; Rom. 12:9-13). Instead of cooperating with unbelievers, we should “shake the dust off your feet when you leave that home or town.” (Matt. 10:14) We should refuse any further connection with them.
We should suggest that all believers turn off that ungodly television, stop going to their theaters, defy the governments unjust laws, stop voting for their corrupt politicians and demand government to return to just weights and measures, remove our children from their secular humanist public schools, stand in contempt of corrupt courtrooms, boycott the products of ungodly businesses and multi-national corporations and instead support those products and services of fellow believers. And, instead of being intimidated in the public square, Christians should be flooding that arena with the message, “The kingdom of heaven is near.” (Matt. 10:7)
“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” – Romans 12:2
Instead of conforming to this world, true Christians are called to be different. In addition to the things above,a Christian can do, we need a renewal of our minds from the godless propaganda that has distorted our beliefs of just about everything. Believers must learn the truth about the people, places, and things that have been influencing our life and the things the antichrist has used to deceive even the elect (Matt. 24:24). Wake Up!
“No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” – Matt. 6:24 (KJV)
This is not to suggest that Christians are going to change the world into some heavenly utopia. Christians are not going to save the world. We can, however, influence some individuals and help them find the saving grace of God. And, we are each individually responsible for our own choices of whom we serve. And our ultimate goal, when we come to the end of our time is to hear, “Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” (Matt. 25:23, KJV)
