Vaduva On Final Stretch In Campaign For County Commissioner

As the May 4 Ohio Republican primaries are just one day away, I wanted to say “thank you” to all of you supporting my campaign through donations, encouragement and volunteer work. When I decided last year to run for Greene County Commissioner, it was an easy decision – it came about as a result of looking at our current political environment and saying, “enough is enough!”

In an article today Dayton Daily News recognized how the GOP is facing
tough challenges from candidates with Tea Party values, not just here
locally, but also at a state and federal level (see article: http://bit.ly/9VCOhW).

What the Dayton Daily News article does not cover however, is the
truth that the GOP political machine in Ohio had declared all-out war
on any Tea Party candidate running on a Republican ticket. John
Husted, and other candidates here in Ohio have even used a bogus “Tea Party Values” logo on their campaign correspondence, trying to mislead voters into thinking that they are being endorsed or supported by Tea Party organizations.

This is some outrageous behavior on the part of the Ohio GOP, but it
is not surprising. Both at a local and state level, the Republican Party officials are really worried about idealist candidates, and real people with real principles running for office and taking the reigns of their party back; they are doing their best to ensure that this will not happen. This is why I need your help.

I am running on principles alone, as a result of being fed up with the
Greene County GOP and the ruthless political machine that had captured our party here long ago, at the expense of our souls and our
principles of small government and low taxation. I am not a politician, an attorney or someone that had spent a lifetime in the political sphere. I consider my inexperience as a politician an asset, and I hope so do you.

This is a small chance we all have here in Greene County now to try to
reclaim our ideals and principles, so I would be humbled to receive your support and your vote on Tuesday. My promise is that we can use this first step to try to steer our county into the right direction and start to slowly get back to our roots.

Xenia Tea Party Rally On For Sat. April 24 With Greene County Commissioners Approval

While the Tea Party rally planned for tomorrow, April 24
in Xenia was to go on as planned without an official meeting permit,
today Greene County officials notified the organizers that they
informally accepted the rally and will not interfere with it or
prevent it from taking place. Lisa Hale, Director of Risk Management
for Greene County said that the meeting approval policies would be
reviewed for future changes and that due to the timing, the “request
for use of the Courthouse area on 4/24/10 cannot be formally approved, [but] we will not attempt to prevent the event or take action for unauthorized use.”

“I want to thank the Greene Count Commission and Mrs. Lisa Hale for
being professional and working to facilitate this meeting without
further controversy, and for respecting our constitutional right to
free assembly,” said Virgil Vaduva, organizer of the rally. “The
meeting organizers will abide by all laws and ordinances and will
encourage all attendees to do likewise, clean up the Courthouse
grounds after the meeting and avoid damage to the lawn and landscaping surrounding the Courthouse,” said Vaduva.

The organizers of the rally ask all attendees to abide by the following guidelines:

– no sale of food or other items at the rally
– no use of alcohol
– avoid the lawn or contact with other landscaping, and try to use the
paved areas as much as possible
– no placement of signs or banners on the Courthouse building
– no throwing of trash on the ground; clean up the area when you leave

The rally will take place at 4:00 PM at the Greene County Courthouse
in downtown Xenia, and will feature the following speakers:

– John Mitchell, Republican Candidate for U.S. Congress, http://reformcongress.com
– John Anderson, Libertarian Candidate for U.S. Congress, http://johnandersonforcongress.com
– Mickey Denen, Medical Doctor and homeschooling father
– Phil Herzing, Dayton Tea Party and Liberty Groups Coordinator, http://daytonohioteaparty.com
– Andy Myers, Ohio Freedom Alliance, http://ohiofreedom.com
– Josh Diaz, Ohio Open Carry, http://ohioopencarry.org
– Virgil Vaduva, Republican Candidate for Greene County Commissioner, http://votevirgil.org/about

A Seth Morgan campaign coordinator informed the organizers that a
previously scheduled event will unfortunately not allow him to attend;
a number of other speakers’ confirmations are pending as well.

“Some light rain could interfere with the rally, but we are
encouraging everyone to attend, bring umbrellas, their flags, and get
to know their candidates while cheering for freedom and liberty. The
temperatures will be in the 70’s, so please come join us,” said Virgil
Vaduva.

The Greene County Courthouse is located at 45 North Detroit St. in
Xenia, Ohio; free weekend parking is available along the streets
surrounding the Courthouse building, and in many locations throughout
downtown Xenia.

UD Professor of History Dr. Larry Schweikart Endorses Virgil Vaduva Candidate for Greene County Commission

Today the Dayton Daily News Editorial Board endorsed my opponent, Mr. Alan Anderson and chose him to be “the better pick” as a Greene County Commissioner, at least in their opinion. They wrote that Mr. Anderson, the incumbent, was the “more go-along-get-along kind of person” as opposed to someone like me, who has “fringe ideas” and is unwilling to toe the line set by the GOP liberal leadership. You can read the entire poorly-written, error-ridden editorial here: http://tinyurl.com/y7maogv

The truth is my friends that the DDN endorsement of my opponent is an illustration of a sad situation, that we as a nation, state and county have come to a place where freedom, liberty, and freedom to homeschool and live apart from government intrusion are all seen as being on the fringe. Those willing to “go along” are nodded-upon and endorsed to be part of the political and electoral process. It is sad, is it not?

In my interview with DDN I spoke frankly about my views of government, taxation, freedom and liberty. I spoke about the Children Services and their harassment of homeschooling families and the super-inflated budget of that organization. I spoke against the high taxes in our county and the responsibility that the Greene County Republicans have to their principles of small government and low taxation, regardless of the level of government. As a result, my ideas were described as “fringe” and my opponent was endorsed. But fortunately, the outcome of an election does not depend on the GOP or the Dayton Daily News; it is up to the voters to make sound choices. Therefore I am asking you, friends and registered voters to let your friends and family members know that right now and on May 4, they have a chance to vote for a real conservative, a real Republican, unwilling to compromise on any principles of freedom, liberty and taxation.

So I am proudly presenting to you an endorsement given to me by Dr. Larry Schweikart, University of Dayton Professor of History, author of A Patriot’s History of the United States, 7 Events that Made America America and 48 Liberal Lies about American History. Dr. Schweikart has been a guest on Glenn Beck’s show on Fox News, and on the Rush Limbaugh show, and he submitted the following endorsement for my campaign:

“I have known Virgil Vaduva to be someone who deeply cares about freedom, liberty and the American way of life. Virgil’s past which involved life in a Communist country and business ownership shaped him into someone who is experienced and can handle the hard hits of life and politics. His desire to serve and participate in the political life here in the Dayton area is genuine and I believe that he can deliver what Greene County needs today, a real conservative candidate willing and able to pursue the real changes needed today by the GOP.

The political atmosphere in the area is in dire need of new faces, and Virgil is one of them, so it is my pleasure to offer my endorsement for his candidacy for Green County Commissioner.”

Virgil Vaduva Running for Greene County Commissioner

As you may already know, I am currently campaigning as a Republican
candidate for Greene County Commissioner, here in Greene County, Ohio.

If you have been keeping track of my campaign and articles published
at http://votevirgil.org you may already know that there are serious
problems in Greene County, many which have been caused by the
Republican politicians which have had free reign of our county for
decades. This unchecked control on power has led to corruption,
scandals, high taxes and out of control building codes which are
having a negative effect on our lives. There is no excuse for it, and
this time there are no Democrats to blame.

This is why I’ve decided to run for Commissioner and hope to be able
to bring about positive changes inspired by not just my faith, but
also by the love of freedom and liberty I gained during the first 20
years of my life in Communist Romania and during the anti-Communist
revolution of 1989. I have already made substantial progress against
local high taxes with a very public lawsuit filed against the City of
Xenia, seeking several injunctions to stop the city from using public
funds to promote the passage of a tax levy, something which is against
Ohio Elections law. You can read more about it here:
http://www.daytondailynews.com/news/crime/xenia-sued-for-misusing-taxpayer-money-by-commissioner-candidate-576230.html

But there is a lot more work to be done. The Greene County GOP does
not help conservatives get elected. Fortunately, while they control
party finances they cannot control you the voter, so I can only appeal
to people like you, who are willing to challenge the status quote and
help average people, without a political background get elected and
take on the system. You can help me by voting for me on May 4, 2010, by forwarding this message to all your friends and family members who vote in Greene County, and by making a small donation to my campaign or by putting one of my yard signs in your yard. All help, no matter how small will make a difference, and as few as 50 votes can make the difference.

I would be honored to receive your vote during the primary elections
on May 4; and should you consider any financial help, it would go to
positive use with my campaign, for fliers, yard signs and telephone
calls. You can also make an online donation of any size using PayPal
at the following link: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=2CFJULBRFV2AE

At last, I want to encourage YOU to run for office next time around.
We can no longer sit back and let politicians plunder our income and
property, dictate how we can live our lives, raise our families, and
educate our children. So I hope I will even see you on the campaign
trail soon.

Advocates for Liberty and Xenia Liberty Group Event, Xenia Library, Thursday Feb. 25 @ 6pm

The very first meeting of the Advocates for Liberty and Xenia Liberty Group (a chapter of the Dayton Tea Party) will take place on Thursday, Feb. 25 at 6:00 PM at the Xenia Library in the upstairs meeting room.

I want to encourage everyone to attend, connect and become involved with our community at a grassroots level. The Tea Party liberty groups are non-partisan groups; we don’t endorse or sponsor particular candidates nor do we carry water for the Republican Party. We simply want to promote the Constitutional principles of freedom and liberty for all, something which seemingly both parties are failing to understand.

The Feb. 25 meeting agenda includes:

– Rob Scott, founder of Dayton Tea Party, who will discuss the Tea Party movement and goals.

– Ron Alban, will discuss and take signatures for his effort to abolish the Ohio Estate Tax; we also need help with signature petitions in Greene County and this is your opportunity to help abolish this obscene tax in our state.

– Virgil Vaduva will be discussing the proposed 35% increase in Xenia city income tax; there will be a measure on the May 4 ballot and we need your help to defeat this proposal and keep our private property away from the reaching hands of government bureaucrats.

Being our first meeting, we are also looking for leaders and people willing to become involved and be part of our board. If you want to participate, feel free to contact us at any time (info@advocatesforliberty.com).
